ABOUT RYE GUIDED WALKS

Rye Guided Walks offer a 2-hour (approx.) guided walk around the historic heart of the 'Antient Town' of Rye. Tours include a visit inside the 18th Century Town Hall and its hidden 'black museum' in the attic, includingthe pillory, gibbet cage and other instruments of torture/punishment!

Points to note....

  1. ACCESSIBILITY: There are 2 flights of stairs inside the Town Hall; the walk also involves some steep cobbled streets which may not be suitable for some types of wheelchair. The public walks might therefore be unsuitable for people with serious mobility issues; however I am happy to arrange a private, easy-mobility tour outside these times which takes in as much of the main tour as possible but avoiding the steeper cobbled hills and Town Hall. Please email me to arrange this.
  2. DOGS: Well-behaved and socialised dogs can join the tour on condition that you can guarantee that your dog will 'behave itself' inside the Town Hall; otherwise you might be asked to wait outside with your dog during that part of the tour. Dogs must be on a lead; you must clear-up after your dog if it 'does its business' at any point on the walk.
  3. CHILDREN: Minors under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. You are responsible for your children's safety and good behavior. Please note that younger children may find the contents of the Town Hall attic disturbing.
  4. HEALTH MEASURES: During warm weather you are advised to carry a bottle of water with you. Please ensure you remain hydrated. Bottles of water are for sale  near the tour's starting point.
